So, you need help on how to send "Fan Mail"
I usually start with the envelope, just so I keep track of exactly who I am writing to, and so it is ready for me as soon as I have written the letter of request (LOR).
When sending "fan mail" you obviously want it to come back to you! So, You will have to send a Self Addressed and Stamped Envelope (SASE)
You need to address it to yourself, the way you do it is up to you, but this was is a lot clearer!
To: Your Name
House number & Street Name
Town
County/City or State & City
Postcode/ Zip code
Country
You will also need to stamp it, so make sure you get the right stamp for the size envelope that you are sending! So you will need a large letter stamp if your letter is. According to the Royal Mail these are the maximum measurements of letters. Letter (Greetings cards, personal letters, postcards, bills) Max Weight: 100g, Max Length: 240mm, Max Width: 165mm, Max Thickness: 5mm. Large Letter (A4 documents, certificates, magazines, CD or DVD in case, some large greeting cards with badges) Max Weight: 750g, Max Length: 353mm, Max Width: 250mm, Max Thickness: 25mm.

Once you have prepared your SASE you then either need to put it in a bigger envelope or a sender bag. You need to address it to the celebrity and in the bottom right hand corner put your name and address.
Sending "fan mail" abroad is slightly different. When you prepare you SASE but DO NOT PUT A STAMP ON IT!! send some of the currency of the country you are sending it to, for example: I sent a letter to Lauren Bacall, and I enclosed $5 for postage inside the letter. This makes it just a bit easier for your foreign celebrity.
Now here's the hard part, writing the LOR. Depending on who you are writing to will depend on what you write. If they are your ultimate idol, you will want to say how much they inspired you, or how much you love their work. Although, if they aren't your favourite celebrity, still compliment them and their work. Then in the last paragraph, explain how much it would mean to you for them to sign a photo for you.
In some cases you can send your own photographs for the celebrity to sign, but if you're not sure if that celebrity will sign your photographs then do not send your most prized photograph of them! Some celebrities will send signed headshots instead of signing fans photos.
